WIDOPAN-Stone carpet

WIDOPAN-Stone carpet is a jointless and open pored floor covering suitable for outdoor use. The stone carpet consists of natural marble gravel and a binding agent. The open pored structure reduces sounds and the round marble gravel make walking on the stone carpet pleasant and secure.

Various binding agents can be used to produce the stone carpet. These vary for horizontal and vertical layers. The binding agents are based on PUR-Resin.

The stone carpet may be applied on all surfaces made from WIDOPAN liquid waterproofing but may also be used on other materials. Before starting the application, tests should be made to assure the compatibility with the surface. The surface should have a slope of at least 2% to ensure that the water drains off.

WIDOPAN-Stone carpet is certified for anti- slip (R10).

16,8 kg/m² finished mixture for 8mm layer thickness (16,00 kg/m² marble and 0.8kg/m² binding agent). For the finished mixture, one plastic bottle of binding agent for horizontal layers (1,25 kg) is mixed with one bag of marble (25,0 kg)

Consumption (Vertical layers)
13,2 kg/m² finished mixture for 6 mm layers. 12,0 kg/m² marble and 1,2 kg/m² binding agent. For the finished mixture, 2,5 kg of binding agent for vertical layers is mixed with on bag of marble (25,0 kg). The vertical surface is primed with 0,3 kg/m² of the binding agent before applying the marble-mixture whilst the binding agent is still wet.

Storage of the Marble gravel
If packaging is kept closed and stored at constant temperature the marble gravel can be stored unlimited.

Storage of the binding agent
If container is kept closed and strorage temperature held constantly between +15°C and +20°C the binding agent may be used for up to 6 months.

Processing

Before starting the application, we recommend to install angle brackets (8mm for horizontal layers, 6mm for vertical layers) which should be fixed with cartridge adhesive, hot glue or WIDOCRYL-Filler (screed). They serve as vertical boundaries but may also be used as part of the visual design.

The WIDOPAN-stone carpet consists of natural marble gravel and a binding agent which are mixed with an appropriate stirrer in a bucket until all the gravel is covered in binding agent. Then, the mixture is be poured into a second bucket and, again, needs to be stirred thoroughly. Only one bag at a time should be mixed to avoid an overdosing of the binding agent (a scale should be used for small amounts).

The finished mixture is then spread on the surface using a trowel and evened until a smooth surface is achieved. Vertical surfaces need to be primed with the binding agent for vertical layers, the finished mixture is applied whilst the binding agent is still wet. No priming in needed for horizontal surfaces.

To avoid the gravel from sticking to the trowel, it’s recommended to regularly cover the trowel with a smoothening agent e.g. WIDOPAN-STGM. Direct sunlight must be avoided during application and curing time of the stone carpet.
